Build and race a soapbox (go-kart) racer

Build a soapbox racing kart and race it against your colleagues! Get creative, get constructive, and get racing!

This is an all-round team building activity, and you'll really need the input from all of the team to be successful - planning, building, designing your soapbox race kart - and finally of course, the big race...

After dividing the group into teams we hand over the cash - each team gets a set amount of money with which they have to purchase the materials they need to build their racing car. They have time for planning, and then they start to hit the market, where they can buy tubing, wooden boards, wheels, joints, seats, side panels...everything they need.

Then once the cars are all finished, the speed trials begin in earnest. Power here is more manpower than horsepower, but the key factor will come from the maneuverability of the vehicles. What steering system did the team come up with? How will it handle the curves?

After the speed trials we will of course have the final race - the top two performers come together for the ultimate burn-off. Can it get more exciting??
